Ballybeg House Wedding
Wedding at Ballybeg House
I was delighted to return to Ballybeg House in County Wicklow in September for Claire and Daniel’s wedding day. Ballybeg House is a magical country home away from home, and as I arrived, I was reminded how special this venue is for a wedding day.
Claire had explained to me how she envisaged the look and feel of her wedding and why they had chosen Ballybeg House as their wedding venue.
Ballybeg House is truly a special venue – county Wicklow.
As you drive up the driveway, you literally leave the outside world behind! It was incredible to find this hidden gem and then to have all our friends and family in one place for a whole weekend. Our photos and video really portray the vibe of our wedding – everyone was smiling, laughing and bursting with mischief all weekend! We kept the look/theme of our wedding quite simple/rustic as the location is just as magical as is.”
Morning Grouse Lodge:
There was great excitement as I arrived at the Grouse Lodge as Claire was busy opening presents to represent something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Daniel surprised her with the most beautiful gold heart-shaped locket with pictures of Daniel and Claire and their daughter Georgie inside. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. It was a very special moment.
I love to capture the excitement and mischief of children,
especially when there is a very special little one so close to the bride and groom. Little Georgie was there to celebrate the big day with Claire and Daniel and she was as good as gold. She stole the show!
After lots of hugs, tears and laughter
the girls got ready with the help of a glass of champagne! Claire wore a stunning dress from designer Maggie Sotterro which she sourced in Tracy Bridal in Galway city. There was beautiful lace and diamanté detail on the back and shoulders of the dress that photographed beautifully. She was a stunning bride and that incredible smile was the perfect finishing touch.
Daniel and Claire’s friends travelled from near and far to celebrate with them. They came from Galway, Dublin, London, Canada and Sweden. There was great excitement as they made their way through to the intimate chapel.
Flowers:
Claire and Daniel chose wild flowers and gypsophila button holes and had gypsophila crown for little Georgie. Simple, classic and elegant. The aisle was lined with bouquets of gypsophila and they added wonderfully to the romantic feeling in the chapel. All the flowers at Wedding at Ballybeg House were organised by the Wedding Coordinator Tee from Pairs and Peaches.
Humanistic Ceremony :
They enjoyed a humanist ceremony and every word of their celebrant Amy Browne’s ceremony was interesting and meaningful. Some of their friends sang in the ceremony too. There was a really warm and loving atmosphere created and I could see that come across beautifully on everyone’s faces. The intimacy of the chapel and the cosy vibe of the shebeen is what makes a very special location for Wedding at Ballybeg House.
The festivities continued and we got to enjoy the incredible grounds of Ballybeg House. The tree-lined walkways and scenery made for a picturesque backdrop to capture their first moments as a newly married couple. The rustic shebeen is also a favourite of mine as the rugged brick backdrop looks fantastic. They looked relaxed, content and so happy… what their vision for their wedding day was all about!

It wasn’t long before the bell for dinner rang and in we went to the breathtaking Victorian Marquee. The interior of the marquee has a distinct Victorian style, complete with lace curtains, draped ceilings, chandeliers and a beautiful wooden floor. Claire and Daniel had lovely details; from the china saucers acting as table numbers and shots acting as wedding favours to the beautiful wildflower centre pieces.
As darkness fell, Daniel and Claire had a lovely idea of having their guests surround them with sparklers. It was the perfect way to celebrate the wonderful spark between this special couple as the light glittered all around them.
Tee from Pairs and Peaches – helps a lot!
Testimonial:
It was fantastic to get such warm and positive feedback from Claire after they had received their pictures…
“Anyone who knows me knows how photo obsessed I am – I have a MASSIVE collection of photo albums dating back to the 80s and I love flicking through them from time to time!
So, when we got engaged the first thing I started looking for was a wedding photographer. I trawled the internet unable to find someone who ticked all the boxes until I found DKPHOTO – the second I laid eyes on Daniels website I was in HEAVEN!
I had butterflies in my stomach flicking through all the beautiful photos and 5 star reviews – we were delighted Daniel was available for our wedding and we booked him straight away.
Daniel was an absolute DREAM to deal with from start to finish. On the big day his calm and confident nature puts you at ease straight away and it really is wonderful to be photographed by someone with such an artistic eye. And he is so discreet you nearly forget that he was there!
Our pics arrived this week and we are absolutely over the moon with them – I don’t know how I got any work done at all sneaking back at every chance to look at them again and again!
Our wedding photos are just magical…
They arrived in a lovely little engraved wooden box and this impressive finishing touch just highlights Wedding Photographer Daniels level of perfectionism.
Our wedding photos are just magical and I will cherish them for life. There is nothing that Daniel did not capture and our friends and family are blown away by them. I will have to refrain from wanting to print every single one of them!
Thank you so much DKPHOTO for capturing the perfect shots of our special day, our expectations were very high and boy did you deliver!
